The value estimate

The "What's my business worth?" tool gives a rough range using common rules of thumb. It is not an appraisal or professional valuation, and it does not look at your actual books. Real prices depend on many things, including your records, your location, your lease and the buyer. For a proper figure, use a qualified business valuator (for example, a Chartered Business Valuator) or your accountant.

The broker-fee estimate

The broker-fee figures are estimates only, based on commonly reported ranges in public sources. Broker fees vary. Brokers set their own rates, minimum fees and other charges, and some are open to negotiation. Always ask any broker for their fees in writing.

Real estate

We do not give real estate advice and do not take part in buying, selling or leasing land or buildings. If your sale includes property or a lease, use a lawyer for that part of the deal.
